We love this twist on a traditional Sunday roast from Donna Hay. But like a traditional chicken green curry, the pronounced flavours of the lime and coconut in this lime and coconut roasted chicken can make picking a wine to drink with it fairly daunting. Not so, says Wade Bales. The lime and coconut complement a number of South African wines. Here, some of his favourites, which Wade says would pair perfectly with a chicken green curry too.

Groote Post Unwooded Chardonnay 2015
The cellar on this west coast farm, built in a restored historic fort, has been producing some impressive wines for some time now. This delicious chardo serves a similar purpose to the lime in the recipe. It cuts through the sugar and creaminess of the coconut milk because of its citrus and lime on the nose.

Hartenberg Riesling 2012
This wine estate has been building a name for its Rieslings since the 1980s. It is produced using German Riesling grape, renowned for producing wines with high acidity and elegance. It’s these characteristics that make it a great plate mate for this dish, as well as many Asian meals.
